DRIVE project partners meet in Larissa and open dialogue on deep CO₂ removal

March 30, 2026

Larissa recently welcomed the partners of the DRIVE project for a new in-person consortium meeting hosted by the Institute of Entrepreneurship Development (iED), creating the space for focused discussions on project progress, upcoming activities and the next steps toward advancing innovative CO₂ capture solutions. The meeting also reinforced the project’s commitment to connecting technical development with stakeholder needs and market perspectives.

A central highlight of the partners’ presence in Larissa was the workshop “Exploring Deep CO₂ Removal: Challenges, Needs and Market Perspectives”, held on 27 March 2026 at the Museum of National Resistance, as part of Innovent Forum 2026. The session brought together industrial end-users to discuss the challenges, needs and enabling conditions linked to deep CO₂ removal solutions and their future deployment.

The workshop was designed as an interactive exchange between the project and the wider ecosystem, with a strong focus on gathering practical feedback on technical, economic and regulatory dimensions.

The agenda featured a project introduction by Peter van Os (TNO), followed by technical contributions from Peter Moser (RWE) on deep removal with thermal regeneration, Riccardo Zaffaroni (TNO) on direct regeneration, and Diego Pinto (Hovyu) on a two-step regeneration system for hydroxide-based solvents. The session concluded with a panel and audience discussion exploring the advantages of deep removal and the electrification of regeneration processes.

By combining internal project coordination with an outward-looking workshop, the DRIVE meeting in Larissa underlined the project’s collaborative approach and its ambition to contribute to more effective, efficient and scalable CO₂ capture solutions.
