Advancing the DRIVE Project – Key Results from the 3rd Project Meeting

April 1, 2025

The DRIVE project continues to make strides in its mission to develop sustainable solutions for CO2 reduction from industrial sources. The consortium recently gathered for its 3rd project meeting, held on the 12th and 13th of March 2025 at The National Robotarium, hosted by our partner Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. The meeting provided valuable insights into ongoing research and emerging technological advancements.

Key Results and Takeaways:

  • Breakthroughs in CO2 Capture Efficiency: New methodologies tested by RWE demonstrated increased efficiency in CO2 capture processes, showing potential for industrial scalability.
  • Data-Driven Optimization: Workshops based on activities regarding deep removal via electrochemical regeneration processes by TNO and HOV presented the latest data analyses that refined process optimization strategies, reducing energy consumption while maximizing CO2 capture rates.
  • Technical Tour at Heriot-Watt University: The partnership had the opportunity to tour the university’s advanced research facilities, gaining insights into cutting-edge methodologies. The visit provided a deeper understanding of experimental techniques and industrial-scale applications.

The discussions and results from this meeting reinforce the DRIVE project’s role in shaping the future of industrial CO2 management. As we move forward, collaboration among research institutions, industry leaders, and policymakers will remain essential in driving impactful progress.
